As children we take on limiting self beliefs from other people’s belief systems, and they often come with a lot of emotional content. Over time these limiting beliefs and negative thoughts can become self fulfilling, for example if you believe you are too shy to meet new people you may start to avoid opportunities to do that, making you more tense and anxious when an opportunity is available in the future.
