About Me

I’m Alan and my aim is to help you get rid of outdated, unwanted behaviours and limiting beliefs, enabling you to make positive life changes and achieve your goals. I offer the choice of face to face or online therapy sessions.

I use a combination of techniques, hypnosis, mindfulness, neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) and integral eye movement therapy (IEMT) to help clients achieve the results and goals they want.

Having had hypnotherapy many years ago to stop smoking, which was an immediate and complete success for me, I started on my journey of studying and training in hypnotherapy and psychology. Over the years I have worked and volunteered as a support worker and tutor, and I have been involved in areas of adult mental health for a charity and the NHS.

I’m a member of the National Hypnotherapy Society and IEMT Association and abide by their codes of ethics. I am fully insured and undertake regular supervision and further training to update and add to my professional skills.

I’m a fully qualified Hypnotherapist, an Integral Eye Movement Therapy practitioner, and also have a Psychology BSc Hons degree.

About Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy uses a state that you may experience naturally several times a day, to make suggestions for positive life changes to your unconscious mind. It is a state of deep focus and examples of being in this state are when you are engrossed in a book or a film, or when you have made a car journey that you cannot remember parts of.

During hypnotherapy you will be in a deeply relaxed state that enables your unconscious mind to accept suggestions of the positive changes that we have discussed and that you want to make to your life – the therapy part of hypnotherapy. You cannot be hypnotised unless you want to be and you will not lose self-control. You will be aware and in control throughout the process and involved in planning your treatment.

Hypnotherapy can be very effective with people who are committed to making positive life changes, by giving them back control over the choices they make. Stopping unwanted behaviours, breaking habits, gaining confidence, overcoming fears and phobias, alleviating stress and many other issues can be treated with hypnotherapy.

About Sussex Hypnotherapy

Your session can be held confidentially in a modern therapy room at the Eastbourne Therapy Clinic, which is situated near Eastbourne train station for easy access. Pay and display parking bays are available outside and near the clinic.

Alternatively you could have a secure online session using Zoom. Online hypnotherapy sessions have been found to be just as effective as face to face sessions, and can be more effective for some clients as they are in a familiar, comfortable environment when the session takes place.
